a few thoughts on imodium for runners:

– if you haven’t tried it as an anti-diarrhea preventative, try it. it works. and it can make all of the difference.

– it has a tendency to give me dry heaves sometimes. this is because it stops the GI tract from really moving, so it definitely feels like things are dry and not moving properly in your stomach. my take on that is, it’s better than having to run into a porter potty every 15 mins.

– make sure to take 1 to 2 pills (2 for me, fyi) at least 30 mins prior to your run. wash it down with water. and you also want to make sure you took care of business before the imodium takes affect (for obvious reasons).
